It really does not matter what it is, short of something illegitimate or dishonest of course. Whether you decide to earn with an affiliate scheme, decide to sell your own item, working e-bay, whatever it is, if you use the right focus - "point of concentration and directed attention" - on it, long enough, you will get results.
You must decide what it is you desire to focus on, then not let yourself be diverted away from that, especially if you are just starting. Start with only 1-3 things then as you get better you will learn how to utilize what you learned to any new scheme or idea you want to.
Once you select what it is you want to focus on then you can start improving that focus. Fine tune it so to speak. Learn to do the things that will take the object of your focus to the top of success. For example automating as most of the daily tasks as possible, learning about and gaining any knowledge needed to bring success in the field you have chosen, using the power of a good viral site that will assist you build your programs from one site and more.
Regardless of what you have heard or been told, most money made online does not come easily. You will have to have a system ready with a well laid out plan on how to make that program work successfully.
